它的出色之處在於，能分析下載地址中的實際地址，但若地址無效時則跳換成失效網頁，當地址重新有效而無法取消復原成原來的地址。
斷點續傳，它的不足之處在於，必須設定分段的臨時檔案存放的磁盤位置，下載完成後再自動合併成一個完整的檔案，同時刪除臨時檔案（這種做法不同於其他下載軟件預先分配一整塊磁盤空間）。所以，下載的如果是機密檔案，就容易被數據取消復原軟件取消復原，造成安全隱患。

IDM本身不支持BT協議，想要下載BT協議資源只能用搭配下載法：所以要先用迅雷離線（115網盤離線，百度網盤離線均可）解決問題， 然後復制離線的地址到IDM，這樣就可以下載了。
IDM本身自帶網頁視頻監視和音頻監視功能，所以只要你的瀏覽器支持IDM的擴展連接就會自動下載。
如果嫌其頻繁的過於彈出下載框，這時候的解決方法就是打開IDM，在設置中自定義IDM在瀏覽器中的下載面板中勾選-不要自動從網頁播放器中捕獲下載，並且重新安裝chrome的IDM擴展程序（文件位置在IDM安裝根目錄IDMGCExt.crx）。
IDM下載網盤資源的方法
說明：
第一、最好一口氣下載完一個文件；
第二、如果你的網絡穩定，可以選擇多線程下載。特別是對於國外網盤。
第三、多備幾個下載地址，因為IDM有一個功能就是被槍後，還有一個網站捕捉的功能，當然原來的下載是不能用了，但是你可以利用其他工具解析出一個新的下載地址，用IE下載到IDM下載失敗文件保存到得文件夾，這樣IDM就能接著下了。
第四、如果你有國外網盤的付費高級賬號，可以在IDM裡輸入並保存。同時建立批量任務（或者稱之為排隊下載），IDM會很方便地完成各種任務。國外很多大型網盤如Fileserve等都非常推薦IDM。
IDM注意事項：
第一：IDM的默認緩存一般是在C盤的，最好更換緩存文件夾；
第二：IDM還有一個很強大的功能，就是邊下載邊播放視頻文件，它的強大在於：它是用本地的播放器播放的（不會像迅雷那樣是佔額外帶寬），緩存文件夾找到文件直接點擊就行（單線程下）。
